Diyas: Symbols of Faith
Diyas are oil lamps made from clay that hold a cotton wick dipped in oil. These lamps are used in Hindusim, Buddhism and other religions to celebrate festivals, illuminate the dark and offer prayers. While these lamps inevitable lead to some smoke, they offer a sense of hope to devotees. They serve as a symbol of faith for people and gives them hope that the diyas in their life will dispel darkness and lead the way to light. These pictures are from a temple in Sri Lanka and I have tried to capture the power of diyas as symbols of faith in this sub-collection.
