why The Panchabhutas?

“Place your hands into soil to feel grounded. Wade in water to feel emotionally healed. Fill your lungs with fresh air to feel mentally clear. Raise your face to the heat of the sun and connect with that fire to feel your own immense power. Look into the vastness of space to feel humble.”

- Victoria Erikson

The Panchabhutas - Water, Fire, Air, Earth and Space- are the building blocks of our world. The human body is a perfect amalgamation of these elements whilst nature is a private collection of the boundless forms and mixtures of the five elements.

The five elements are ubiquitous. With every picture a photographer tries to capture a unique form of the elements. Sometimes, the elements pose like a young lady for the handsome photographer and in other-times, they test the mettle of the man behind the camera. The elements populate the world together, and it is almost impossible to find an element wandering alone.

The five elements cannot be limited only to the physical world, but they also manifest themselves into varied feelings and emotions from lust to hope to the most savage ruthless form - anger.

Like all photographers, I capture visually and aesthetically pleasing pictures. However, the difference lies in the appreciation of the raw and powerful elements, not organising memories in stacks of categories to showcase them. The five elements overshadow this entire collection. I dream of tapping onto the power of one element at a time in each photograph to make you fall in love with my work.
